Man arrested for DWI after almost running off the road

Given the risk drunk driving presents to the public, it is no surprise that Little Rock law enforcement takes great care in seeking drivers who might be under the influence and takes steps to stop and arrest them. In some instances, the driver was stopped after making a reckless maneuver. In others, there was an accident. In still others, the driver might have committed a violation entirely separate from any DWI-related action and the officer found that the driver was committing a DWI. No matter the situation, they must still have a strong legal defense to avoid the harshest penalties.

A man was arrested for DWI after a police investigation. The incident that sparked the arrest happened in the mid-afternoon at around 3 p.m. According to police, the 65-year-old driver almost ran his vehicle off the road and crashed into a guardrail. When the officer investigated, the driver was given field sobriety tests. One involved the officer moving his finger in front of the driver's eyes. The man was unable to complete the test saying he preferred to look at the officer. The driver nearly fell and stated that he does not commit DWI "often." He was arrested, posted bond and was released.

What drivers in Little Rock might not realize is that when they are arrested for DWI, they can have their license suspended immediately and face fines even before they have gone to trial. To avoid the harshest long-term penalties, it is critical to have legal assistance with a defense. Drivers who are convicted can face hefty fines, a driver's license suspension and more. The penalties grow progressively worse with every conviction. Fortunately, there are strategies to avoid the worst penalties and maintain driving privileges while staying out of jail. If the law enforcement officer violated the driver's rights or there was a reasonable explanation for why the driver appeared to be under the influence, it could be the foundation for a defense and an acquittal. Having legal assistance is key.

A 65-year-old man nearly drove his vehicle off the road and a law enforcement officer saw it. This led to a traffic stop and the driver being arrested for DWI. While the case sounds difficult to defend, that does not mean the driver should not have legal help. Calling an attorney experienced in providing DWI defense is one of the crucial aspects to a case that should not be ignored.
